Bringing joy and beauty to Barnet

January is a slow month in terms of flowers in the Supermarkets. Holland closes down for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year so it takes time for the floristry business to get going.

Betty was a fantastic help this afternoon helping make home made fabric baubles for the wreath at Apthorp Court. It is incredibly hot in the home and artificial wreaths are the only things that will survive until Christmas.

I really am in the Christmas spirit I’d forgotten how good arrangements look with glitter.

I love the colours in this arrangement - someone described it as autumn in a bowl.

A gold arrangement this morning

I love the colours in this design - phalaenopsis orchids and lilies

Hard to believe that these flowers were all destined for landfill until the Flower Bank steps in.

Thank you Morrisons for the gorgeous peach roses and gerberas I picked up this morning. It was a pleasure to use ornithogalum in this arrangement.

Yesterday I had great fun with Tilly and Joyce creating this wreath for their day centre Friend in Need in East Barnet. The baubles were from the North London Hospice shop in New Barnet.

It’s hard to believe with this arrangement that it’s not summer.

We had great fun making this basket for Halloween. Everyone loved putting glitter on the flowers.

I harvested some lavender on Monday and decided to create an autumnal wreath and include the lavender. I'm delivering the wreath to Goodwin Court.

This dish of roses and alstroemerias was just delivered to Friend in Need in East Barnet - a splash of colour on an awful day.

The weather is atrocious today - heavy rain and overcast but this gorgeous bowl of lilies, alstroemerias and roses should make Barnet Contact Centre feel a little more summery.

So pleased that everything we planted at Goodwin Court in August is thriving. The residents have a herb patch that they are free to take and use in their cooking. Thanks to Morrisons for their end of code herbs which are bringing pleasure to the residents here.
